Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd Ignite the Screen in HBO’s ‘The Idol’

HBO’s forthcoming drama series, ‘The Idol,’ explores the tumultuous journey of a pop star, Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp), attempting to reclaim her title as America’s sexiest and most acclaimed pop artist. After a mental breakdown cut short her last tour, Jocelyn’s ardor is reignited by the enigmatic Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), a nightclub owner with a checkered past. The series delves into the suspenseful question: will Jocelyn’s newfound romantic thrill elevate her career or plunge her into her psyche’s deepest recesses?

Co-created by Sam Levinson, Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, and Reza Fahim, ‘The Idol’ features a star-studded cast, including Lily-Rose Depp and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye in the leading roles. The series also boasts an impressive roster of supporting actors, including Troye Sivan, Dan Levy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son, and Hank Azaria.

The co-creators also serve as executive producers, alongside Kevin Turen, Ashley Levinson, Aaron Gilbert for BRON, and Sara E. White. Sam Levinson helms the director’s chair, with him, Tesfaye, and Fahim penning the script. The production of ‘The Idol’ is a collaboration with A24.
