Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” Trailer Debuts, Set for Fall 2023 Release

Apple Original Films unveiled the riveting teaser trailer for the much-anticipated Martin Scorsese feature, “Killers of the Flower Moon.” The film’s premiere is slated for the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, May 20. Afterwards, in a collaborative venture with Paramount Pictures, it will be released exclusively in selected theaters on Friday, October 6, 2023. A broader release will follow on Friday, October 20, before it becomes available for global streaming on Apple TV+.

Plot Details and Historical Context

Set in the early 20th century, “Killers of the Flower Moon” tells the real-life tale of the Osage Nation. After the discovery of oil, the Osage people became some of the wealthiest in the world practically overnight. This sudden wealth, however, attracted the attention and greed of white interlopers. These intruders attempted to manipulate, extort, and steal as much Osage wealth as they could, ultimately resorting to murder.

The gripping narrative unfolds through the unlikely romance between Ernest Burkhart, portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio, and Mollie Kyle, played by Lily Gladstone. Academy Award winner Scorsese directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Eric Roth, based on David Grann’s bestselling book.
