Apple TV+’s acclaimed series “Severance” has embarked on the filming journey for its exciting second season right here on Bonavista Peninsula, Newfoundland, and Labrador. Shooting locations span the picturesque towns of Bonavista, Keels, and Port Union. This bustling activity is the talk of the town, despite the production crew’s best efforts to keep the process under wraps according to CBC News.
Witnessing the flurry of activity from his office, town manager for Trinity Bay North, Darryl Johnson, spoke to CBC News about the sheer buzz of seeing the production crew and locals busily at work. For Johnson, and the locals, the sight of their quiet towns transformed into a live filming set for a show starring big names like Ben Stiller and Patricia Arquette is both exhilarating and a matter of pride.
Local businesses, too, are basking in the glow of the filming. Carl White, the owner of the Seaport Inn and Carl’s Fireside Restaurant, told CBC News how his rooms are fully booked for 18 days. The influx of filming crew and their star-studded cast has breathed new life into the local hospitality scene, post-pandemic.
Season 2 of “Severance” promises an electrifying ensemble cast. Besides the return of beloved cast members like Emmy nominee Adam Scott, Oscar and Emmy winner Patricia Arquette, and Academy Award-winner Christopher Walken, the new season is set to introduce eight new stars. They include Emmy and Oscar nominee Bob Balaban, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, Emmy nominee Gwendoline Christie, John Noble, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Alia Shawkat, and Emmy winner Merritt Wever.
“Severance” features a compelling narrative where Adam Scott’s character, Mark Scout, heads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a groundbreaking ‘severance procedure’ that separates their work and personal life memories. As the plot thickens, Mark finds himself embroiled in a mystery that forces him to question the nature of his work and his identity.
Despite the hushed efforts of the production crew, excitement brews in the local community as they eagerly watch the filming unfold. This much-anticipated season of “Severance” may still be a while from reaching our screens, but it’s already making waves in Bonavista Peninsula.
