Massachusetts Senator Condemns Neo-Nazis in Marlborough

Senator Jamie Eldridge, a Democratic representative of the Massachusetts Senate from the Middlesex and Worcester District, voiced his strong condemnation regarding a neo-Nazi demonstration outside a Marlborough hotel. The Senator made it clear that he does not put up with neo-Nazis in Marlborough.

Eldridge’s Stand Against Hate

Senator Eldridge, in a recent statement, expressed his concern after several constituents brought a hateful demonstration to his attention. “Over the past week, I’ve been contacted by a handful of constituents expressing horror over a demonstration by NSC-131 (Nationalist Socialist Club) members late last week at a Marlborough hotel where migrant families are being housed.” he began. The event took place late last week at a Marlborough hotel, where migrant families have temporarily taken residence. Consequently, Eldridge didn’t hesitate to condemn the NSC-131 group for their actions, describing them as expressions of hate. He emphasized, “The NSC-131 members who visited Marlborough, cowards who cover their faces so that no one knows who they are, are xenophobic and racist”

However, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) goes a step further in defining NSC-131’s identity, labeling them as a neo-Nazi group rooted in New England. Their regular activities include staging protests and distributing hate literature.

Community’s Response to Neo-Nazis in Marlborough

In addition to Eldridge’s statement on the Neo-Nazis in Marlborough, he noted his commitment to ensuring the safety and support of the migrant families. “I stand in solidarity with the new arrivals being placed in hotels, shelters, and temporary housing across Massachusetts, including in my district,” Eldridge declared. Meanwhile, Eldridge communicated with Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant during the week, emphasizing the need to keep the Marlborough police informed of this situation.

NSC-131’s demonstration is believed to be part of a larger series of events, referred to as a “hate tour”, particularly targeting migrant families. Emphatically, Eldridge pointed out, “It is no coincidence that NSC-131 targeted this hotel.” Notably, most of the new arrivals at this hotel are immigrants of color, predominantly from Haiti. The SPLC provides further insight into the group’s motives, documenting that “NSC-131’s propaganda and actions routinely target religious and ethnic minorities, particularly Jews and undocumented immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, and left-wing activists.”

Concluding his statement, Eldridge emphasized the values held by Massachusetts residents, stating, “Hate has no home here in Massachusetts, and I hope that constituents throughout my district will make this very clear.”
